You don’t often see smartphones getting discounts soon after their releases and even when you do the price cuts are not massive. Yet Amazon Wireless did the unthinkable today and dropped Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2’s price way down from $129.99 to $0.01. And that’s just 6 (six!) days after its official launch.
Unfortunately, soon after the deal went live, the second-gen Stratosphere went out of stock, which says a thing or two about this big guy’s hotness. Amazon ensures us that the phone will be back on sale “soon”, but of course we have no idea when will it happen and if the $0.01 price will stick.
It definitely can’t hurt to check Amazon’s website a couple of times a day starting now, with the Stratosphere 2 looking quite decent for a potential free on-contract phone. The 4-incher has a 5-row slide-out keyboard, a 800 x 480 pix res display, a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.0 ICS, 8 GB of storage, a 5 MP rear-facing cam and LTE.
