Now, is this a shocker or what? Samsung is struggling to roll out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrades to the company’s newest and fastest smartphones, but, according to SamMobile, come January 2013 the S Advance will get the JB bump.

Yeah, that S Advance, the one and only, with a 1 GHz CPU, 768 MB of RAM and Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board at the moment. The 4-incher should therefore skip Ice Cream Sandwich, which is a bit bizarre, if you ask us.

The thing is the story of the Advance getting Android 4.1 is an almost official one, being confirmed by Samsung Germany on Facebook. It’s true, that’s not exactly the most reliable source of intel, but be prepared to be surprised. Be also prepared to see a bunch of other Samsung devices getting Jelly Bean in the next couple of months, because if the Advance can get it the sky is the limit.
