Microsoft has officially confirmed the pricing for the Surface Pro. Or more specifically, the version of the Surface that will be running Windows 8 Pro. The tablet will be available in a few options and pricing will begin at $899. Those looking to buy can expect to shell out $899 for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB model.
These are being dubbed the ‘standalone’ version, which really just means that the keyboard and covers will be extra. For example, they will both be able to use the Touch Cover and/or the Type Cover — provided you purchase one. On the positive side though, the Surface Pro will ship with a Surface pen (stylus).
Otherwise, the Surface Pro tablets will have goodies such as a 10.6-inch 16:9 (1920 x 1080) ClearType display, a full-size USB 3.0 port and an Intel Core i5 processor. In addition, and this may be the key here — this is the model you will want if you plan to run regular applications. The Microsoft posting described this rather simply so we will just go with what they had to say;
“Surface with Windows 8 Pro will run your current Windows 7 desktop applications – it’s a full PC AND a tablet.”
