Netflix just announced a major deal it has secured with The Walt Disney Company. In 2016 Netflix will be the only subscription-based service that will have first-run access to Disney’s animated and live-action films. What’s better is that these films will be available to Netflix subscribers “in the pay TV window.” In this case, not having a cable or satellite subscription won’t prevent you from enjoying these films on every device that supports Netflix streaming.
2016 is a long time from now, but this agreement also has some more immediate benefits. In 2013, Netflix will get access to Disney’s direct-to-video releases. As for today, Netflix members will be able to watch films such as Pocahontas, Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo.
