Google today has just released version 2.0 of its Gmail app for iPhone and iPad. The updated app features a totally new user interface which according to Google is a result of completely rebuilding the app from the ground up. The Gmail app team was said to have worked on this redesign for six months and now that it’s ready for prime time, the app promises to be faster, sleeker and easier to use.
Aside from the new UI, the updated Gmail app also brings in a bunch of new features such as the inclusion of profile pictures in messages, numerous new animations such as swivels to transitions and infinite scrolling in message lists, autocomplete in search field, the ability to interact directly with Google services, and commenting on Google+ posts. But most importantly, the update app now supports multiple Gmail accounts and you can easily switch from one of your Gmail accounts to right within the app.
Overall, the new version of the Gmail app is a welcome development and gives the app a modern look, feel and functionality and I’m liking it so far. How about you? Have you updated Gmail on your iOS device? Tell us how you find the updated app by leaving a comment below.
