HTC hasn’t had the happiest year in its history, selling much less smartphones during 2012 than before and taking a real whooping from both Samsung and Apple. Still, in all honesty, you can’t say the One X and Droid DNA high-end devices have looked very bad (or look very bad), being at least on-par with the competition’s flagships.
That said, we’re ecstatic to hear HTC isn’t giving up the high-end smartphone fight, but quite on the contrary. The next top-tier handheld from the Taiwanese could thus be released in March 2013, which would only be four months after DNA’s launch.
Codenamed M7, this is said to come with a 5-inch Full HD display, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, a 13 MP rear-facing camera and a metal unibody chassis. Not enough of an upgrade over the DNA? Well, HTC might have another high-end phone in the pipelines, equipped with a brand new Tegra 4 chip. This could come around mid-2013, but I wouldn’t bet the farm on its existence just yet.
