When all is said and done, though it’s getting pretty old, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is still much cooler than 2.3 Gingerbread. And while we’d love to see Jelly Bean buttering all devices, we’re aware that’s almost impossible and some will have to settle for ICS.
But there are also those that won’t even get Android 4.0 and that’s definitely not cool. Fortunately, LG Optimus 2X users won’t have to know how that feels, despite being “officially” told they will. The almost two year old smartphone is getting the much awaited software bump as we speak, though, as usual, the update is set to come in waves.
As a matter of fact, the first wave already hit the Korean version of the device and now the second wave is coming in parts of Europe. Only unlocked phones get to taste Ice Cream Sandwich sweetness, but hopefully an update for carrier-branded versions is also coming. To upgrade, you can wait for the software package to come automatically over-the-air or you can manually get it via LG’s PC sync tool. Have fun!
