As expected, Twitter updated its Android app on Monday afternoon with photo filters. These filters are Twitter’s way of competing with Instagram, which also happens to be the go-to app for millions of people who want to add a little something extra to their photos. The iOS Twitter update isn’t available at the time of this writing, but it should be soon.
Twitter’s filters (which are powered by Aviary), don’t move too far away from the norm. There are eight filters to choose from including vintage, cool, cinematic (pictured), gritty, happy, warm, vignette and black & white. When you want to apply a filter, the Twitter app will let you see a preview of all eight filters at once. You can also swipe through each preview filter in full screen mode. You can also choose to crop you image into squares just like Instagram.
So, now that Twitter has blocked cards from Instagram and integrated its own filters, will you use its app more often?
