Google News Gets Improved for Tablets

Less than 24 hours after updating the YouTube experience on 10-inch Android tablets, Google has made changes to the Google News website as well. If you visit Google News in the United States on the iPad, Nexus 10 or Nexus 7, you should see a new layout. If you don’t see it, it’s likely because Google hasn’t gotten around to rolling the update out to you yet.

The new Google News layout lets you swipe between different categories of news such as technology, entertainment and local news. Tapping on an article will open the webpage from where it originated. You can also select the “explore in depth” option to bring up the same story from different sources.

Google News isn’t fluid enough to replace your favorite news aggregator app, but it is a more viable option with these improvements.
