The TaskOne, tools out.

Sure, your iPhone is the coolest. You got your e-mail, address book, your favorite techno albums, Facebook and Angry Birds all in one place — but for some, iPhone’s versatility just still doesn’t cut it. Fortunately, with the TaskOne protective iPhone case, you can cut just about anything, among performing other every day tasks.

Literally, from ‘carving a juicy steak to widdling a stick’ (see video below,) TaskOne’s 2.5” serrated knife and saw blade is only the beginning of what this next-level iPhone attachment can do. This unconventional toolkit, available for iPhone 4, 4S and 5 synthesizes the utilities of a Leatherman, an all-in-one bicycle tool and an extremely durable polycarbonate and aircraft aluminum iPhone case.

Engineer Addison Shelton set out to create a multi-tool unlike any other and he did just that. Besides it’s super-tough serrated knife, the gadget is equipped with a 1.8” saw blade, a small and a large flathead screwdriver, a medium Phillips screwdriver, a pair of pliers with integrated 3-8mm wrench, wire cutters, 6 metric Allen wrenches (for bike sizes 2 – 6), spoke wrenches (0.127 and 0.130), a wire stripper, bottle opener, a kickstand and a 120mm ruler. Whoah.

“I spend a lot of my day using tools and always wish I had a multi-tool in my pocket, but never carry one due to the size, bulk and inconvenience of a stand-alone multi-tool,” says Shelton. “They say necessity is the mother of all inventions. As a result of my own needs, I figured there were a lot of people like me that would enjoy having a handy toolkit bundled into their iPhone. That is how our TaskOne iPhone case was born.”

The product is currently accepting backers on indiegogo and has reached over 50% of its $32,000 goal as of Wednesday, December 12th, with 15 days left to go. The first 200 contributors at the $75 amount will receive the TaskOne in jet black, at “way less than the retail price.” Pledge by December 15th and receive a holiday card from the TaskLab team. As a present idea, this will fill a void in any MacGyver’s tool kit.
