Who doesn’t love music trivia? According to Facebook, not an awful lot of people. With that, the hugely celebrated SongPop app has been announced as the social network’s number one ranked app for 2012. Alongside Instagram, Timeline, Pinterest, iPhone 5 and Siri, SongPop was also named one of the ‘ten most talked-about’ topics in technology for the year.
Since SongPop’s launch in May, over 60 million users have tested their musical knowledge with the application, which bridges across iOS, Android, Facebook and Kindle Fire platforms. It has received an “abundant” amount of of 5-star ratings from players and has leveraged a substantial social media presence with its user-generated SongPop photo and video shout-outs features.
Recently the game has included exclusive artist playlists to its already extensive list by the likes of Carrie Underwood, Enrique Iglesias, Alanis Morrisette, Jon Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Train, Ke$ha and Far East Movement, plus others.
New features to the software include the ability to chat as players after a game is complete and its direct link to iTunes, where users can click through any song that they like to learn more about the artist and purchase the music straight from the online store.
