As expected, the newest video steaming service brought to us by Redbox and Verizon has began to open up to a select number of individuals. Redbox Instant by Verizon is now taking registrations from anyone who may be interested in trying out the service before it launches to the general public. If you’re chosen to test Redbox Instant by Verizon, you’ll get a 1-month free trial followed by a monthly charge of $8 every month.

Redbox Instant by Verizon will be accessible through a variety of mobile and living room devices such as smartphones, tablets, Blu-ray players, Smart TVs and Google TV. In fact, you can download the Redbox Instant from Verizon Android app right now. The app naturally gives you access to a large streaming library, but it also let’s non-subscribers buy and rent movies. Be warned, the app will not work if your device is rooted.

Competitors such as Netflix and Amazon may offer more content overall, but Redbox Instant from Verizon also throws in four credits that can be used to rent Redbox kiosk movies every month. Should we get our hands on an invite, we’ll be sure to let you know how well it performs.
