Is it an ultrabook? Is it a convertible tablet PC? A weird-looking laptop? Nope, it’s a slidebook. But what exactly is a “slidebook”? Well, it’s not a word that you can hope to find in any traditional English dictionary, but it’s a term that describes the MSI S20 better than all the above.

The S20 has been unveiled and teased a few months ago but its only now that we’re seeing it up for sale from one retailer. ExcaliberPC is the name of this first seller and the 11.6-incher is for now available for pre-order with the shipping date still under-wraps.

The slidebook’s price is not very attractive – $1,099 – but you definitely get what you pay for. That is not just an original portable computer that could gain its own niche but at the same time it’s an excellent device that can compete against any ultrabook or convertible tabs around.

The spec sheet says it all – 11.6-inch IPS Full HD touch display, 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, a 128 GB SSD, Windows 8, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, and Ethernet. Expect the S20 to reach a slew of European and American retailers in the next month or so.
