It looks like 2013 is going to be the year of 5-inch smartphones. ZTE for one, just introduced the Nubia Z5 which we reported on yesterday.
But wait, there’s more. ZTE just unveiled another wide-screen phone that they’re calling the ZTE Grand S. Scheduled to be introduced during CES 2013 next month, the ZTE Grand S will be sporting a 5-inch touchscreen display in 1920×1080 resolution. Spec-wise it’s the same as the Nubia Z5 and aside from its glorious 5-inch display, another key feature will be it’s 13MP rear camera.
Unlike the ZTE Nubia Z5 though, nothing much has been announced for the ZTE Grand S in terms of specs or other attibutes, although rumor has it that this handset will be using a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (APQ8064) processor, 2GB of RAM and a 2,500 mAh battery. Both its processors and RAM capacity are identitical to the Nubia Z5, while the battery is 500 mAh less than the capacity of Nubia Z5’s battery.
If you’re eyeing any of these two smartphones, it looks like the battery pack will be a good point of reference in deciding which one is best for you.
But if battery size is not your main concern, then perhaps knowing that the ZTE Grand S will be thinner than the Nubia Z5. Unfortunately though, the official dimension of the handset is not yet available. Another rumor surrounding the Grand S is that its body will be made of ceramic material — but how tough it is, is yet to be determined.
As for the price point, sources say that the ZTE Grand S will cost around $449, which is a lot cheaper than the Nubia Z5’s $555 price tag. We’ll have more about the ZTE Grand S as CES 2013 comes around.
