You didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out Asus was planning to release a 15-inch touch ultrabook after the 11 and 13-inch members of the Zenbook family got the same treatment a while back.
However, until just a few hours ago it was unclear if Asus was going to sit on the touch-enabled 15-incher for a while longer or throw it in the lion cage ASAP. Thankfully, the Zenbook Touch U500VZ has emerged on Asus’s official website, which almost certainly means a release is just around the corner.
On the flipside, we don’t have an official launch date as of now and pricing details are also in a fog, so there’s still a lot to be revealed about the 15-incher. What we do know for sure is that the ultrabook will resemble the “traditional” UX51Vz quite a lot, with the noteworthy exception of the full HD IPS touchscreen.
There’s an i7 CPU powering the U500Vz, 4 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics, a 4,750 mAh battery, USB 3.0, HDMI, mini VGA and an SD card reader. You’ll have the choice between Windows 7 and 8, while storage options vary from a 256 GB SSD to a 500 GB HDD and 24 GB SSD.
