Well, what do you know? Just when we are all anticipating RIM’s upcoming announcement about BlackBerry 10 devices, here comes T-Mobile hurling out the new BlackBerry Curve 9315. Unfortunately, it’s not the BlackBerry device that most of us may have been expecting. That’s because this new BlackBerry handset still runs BlackBerry 7.1 and not the much awaited BB 10.
All that being said, it is still worth taking a look at, especially for those of you who are in the market for a new BB Curve handset. The BlackBerry Curve 9315 is a Curve handset all the way. You’ve seen all its features from other BlackBerry Curve models before. This BlackBerry device sports the all-familiar QWERTY keyboard with a dedicated BBM key. It also packs in a 3.2MP camera, an FM tuner, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi calling, preloaded Facebook, Twitter and Social Feeds 2.0 apps, GPS, and microSD card slot for storage expansion of up to 32GB.
Now for those of you who are interested in picking this one up, it will be available from T-Mobile starting January 16. While its features and OS may not be as exciting as what may come from RIM’s future devices, the device’s price tag seems attractive enough. The BlackBerry Curve 9315 will go up for only $49.99 for T-Mobile qualified customers. That is a one-time down payment and will require you to pay T-Mobile $10/month payment for up to 20 months via the T-Mobile Equipment Installment Plan. This plan goes with a two-year service agreement. Or you can also get outright by paying the said amount after a $50 mail-in rebate plus a two-year service agreement.
So, what do you think? Do you care about this new BlackBerry handset at all? Or are you already prepped up for the next big thing that’s coming out of RIM’s arsenal in the weeks ahead?
