Corning Incorporated, the company behind Gorilla Glass, announced on Thursday that they will be unveiling their latest and greatest line of specialty glass for high-technology systems. With little information about the product in the company’s press release, we can tell that the new Gorilla Glass 3 will be super tough and supposedly better than the last version.
In the Corning booth at CES, company representatives will be there giving presentations of the glass’s toughness (I’ll have a video camera handy, stay tuned to the site for that sometime next week.) The company will also be introducing their new line of fiber-based, device-to-device cables that is supposed to better transmit data than their copper-based ancestors.
“This year at CES, Corning will demonstrate its industry leadership in specialty glass and fiber optic technologies with the introduction of two products designed to enhance and extend the capabilities of consumers’ favorite devices,” said Wendell P. Weeks, chairman, chief executive officer, and president. “These new innovations build on the increasingly important and continually evolving role of highly engineered glass technologies in delivering improved product performance and functionality through touch capabilities, protective cover glass, and device connectivity.”
