The bar of expectations for affordable 7-inch tablets has been raised to giddy heights by Asus and Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fires but that isn’t stopping other tech manufactures from craving a piece of the pie.
Acer, for one looks like it could provide some stiff competition for Asus and Amazon, courtesy of the recently leaked Iconia B1, now known as the Iconia B. This is not an official device, but with two credible sources confirming its existence, it looks like it won’t be staying much longer in rumor-land.
As a matter of fact, the latest speculation even pinpoints B’s ETA – for “the end of January.” India should be getting the tab first, for 7,999 INR, which is about $150 ($146, to be more exact).
That sounds a bit steep for a gadget with just 512 MB of RAM and a 1,024 x 600 pixels resolution display but keep in mind that Asian prices are often different than US ones, so in America this might see daylight for as less as $100 or $120. And if that’ll be the case, I don’t know who could say no to Acer.
