Although the first leak starring AT&T’s Pantech Magnus might not have grabbed the attention of many tech lovers, its official intro earlier today should make you give the phone a second thought. The 4.8-incher will see daylight under the Pantech Discover name after all, but that’s not the only thing interesting about the device.
The 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution display, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 CPU, NFC, 2,100 mAh battery, 16 GB of internal storage space, microSD support, DLNA, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 are all specs that recommend this handheld for a worthy place in that small space between the mid-range and high-end niches of the smartphone market.
As for the 12.6 MP rear-facing/2 MP front-facing camera combo, that sounds like a winning one to us. Not to mention the dual 3D surround sound or the awesome curved design that allows the Discover to weigh just 4.76 ounces and measure 0.36 inches in thickness.
The running of Android 4.0 ICS is the only major downside we can think of right now, but the $50 on-contract price should probably make you forget about it. AT&T is expected to have this up for grabs starting January 11 (this Friday).
