ASUS releases powerful ROG ARES II graphics card

Launched in the summer of 2010, the original ROG ARES provided graphics power that soon became in-demand for hardware enthusiasts and collectors. Inside the ARES II lies twin HD 7970 GHz Edition GPUs that provide the fastest graphics performance of any card currently on the market. The 6 GB GDDR5 memory means that you’ll have smooth high-count framerates in any PC game available now and into the near future. The generous video memory also translates into support for resolutions higher than 1080P, such as WQHD or 2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1600.

The ARES II uses a custom cooler, using liquid and air, to achieve drastically improved heat dissipation. The hybrid design features a 120mm fan block that should fit easily in most PC cases. The card itself has a 80mm dust-proof fan to enable added cooling for critical components as well as a resistance against harmful dust or debris accumulation. The ARES II fits in a two slot height, making it accessible to most cases out on the market. The slimmer design also keeps an extra expansion slot free on the motherboard, which is always a welcome feat.
