We’re not very used to seeing high-end or even upper mid-range smartphones from Pantech reach America, so the unveiling of the AT&T-bound Discover was quite the unexpected surprise. However, the surprises don’t seem to stop there, as new rumors say the Discover will be landing not only on AT&T, but also on Verizon.
Of course, Big Red will lose the foreground to its “mortal” competitor, expected to have the Discover up for grabs in a matter of hours, but still Pantech’s HD LTE device should hit Verizon by the end of Q1 2013.
The Discover will be known to Verizon customers as Perception, according to notorious serial leaker @evleaks, who also has an exclusive first photo with the device. As far as we can tell, there are no aesthetic differences between the Discover and Perception, so the spec sheets might be identical too. As for pricing, AT&T is set to offer the phone for $50 with two-year contracts, so Big Red has to be able to undercut that or at the worst be on-par with the competition. In which case you have to ask yourselves: do you want to discover or perceive?
