On Monday, President Obama’s design team released the Inaugural 2013 app for iOS and Android. The free application will cover key events in the president’s second term and will feature a calendar previewing events that will be associated with the U.S. inauguration.

The app will provide streaming video of inaugural events, including the swearing-in ceremony, which will take place on January 21st and the National Day of Service, this Saturday. It will also serve as a blog-like source, with news items and further information about upcoming, relevant events. The app is Facebook, Twitter, e-mail and text message compatible.

“This inauguration is a celebration of the American people,” said Steve Kerrigan, president and CEO of the PIC. “That’s why we’ve designed our app to make sure folks across this country don’t miss a moment of history. Whether you’re in Washington, D.C., or any other part of the nation, there are plenty of ways to be involved in the inauguration through this app.”

President Obama’s second term will begin at noon on Sunday.
