There’s been a lot of hoopla surrounding LG’s next flagship smartphone before CES, but to our utmost disappointment no such device was on display in Las Vegas. Still, it shouldn’t be long until the Optimus G and Nexus 4 get a bigger brother, now rumored to be codenamed GK.
The news comes in contradiction to earlier rumors that said LG is planning to launch a G2 already, but we have to admit – this new report sounds much more credible. After all, the Optimus G is only two months young, so if a “beast” would come and one-up it with its spec sheet and name so fast, the sales figures for the existent flagship would drastically decrease.
Likely to get an MWC unveiling in February and a release by the end of the fiscal quarter, the GK should come rocking a 5.5-inch full HD screen and a quad-core processor of some sort. No other specs are known at this time, but we’re counting on 2 gigs of RAM, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and at least a 13 MP rear-facing camera to sweeten the deal.
The Optimus G2 is still coming as well, but our source today reveals nothing in the hardware department. The undoubtedly big fellow is set to come in Q3 or Q4, meaning sometime in the fall.
