Showcased at CES 2013, i’m Here is best described as an innovative and sophisticated GPS tracker. What’s different about the i’m Here versus other GPS devices is the ultra-portable compact size. i’m Here is slightly less than 1.5 inches square and slightly more than 0.5 inches thick. The i’m Here GPS tracker has a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery that’s recharged via USB. i’m Here works by using its integrated SIM to access the global GSM mobile network to transmit its location. It does this on demand either through the i’m Cloud service or at predesignated intervals.
i’m Here features a silicone strap to wear or attach to keys, pockets, or purses. Since it’s intended as a fashion accessory, it has a sporty design and comes in seven different colors: blue, yellow, red, white, green, black, and pink.
So what exactly can it be good for? Well first and foremost it’s touted as a safety device. It’s useful for when you might be hiking, boating, or being in any isolated location alone, when you would want people to know of your location in case something unexpected happens. You can send it with your child to make sure they are where they’re supposed to be. You can also hide it in your spouse’s vehicle if you’re suspecting infidelity, bypassing the need to hire a private service. Just kidding.
You can also track the routes that matter most to you. It doesn’t matter if you’re jogging, hiking, or out to find that sweet fishing spot, i’m Here will keep track of your whereabouts so you don’t have to. The i’m Here GPS tracker will be available in May 2013 for just $168.99.
