If you’re a bit of an adventurer and you like your gadgets to be able to keep up with you, but at the same time hate the extra heft of rugged devices, you’re may be a hard individual to satisfy. But fret not, as there are in fact solutions for your predicament.
Like the upgraded Algiz XRW 10.1-inch notebook from Handheld Group. You have no idea what I’m talking about, right? Well, I don’t really blame you, because Handheld is not exactly a household name in the PC industry, while the previous Algiz XRW was more or less invisible on the market.
But this new 10-incher might actually make a better impression, mostly with its design. The second-gen XRW is at the same time solid and rough, with protection against sand, dust, water, drops from up to 1.2 meters and extreme temperatures, but also fairly slim (1.6 kg weight).
The 10-incher is no pushover from a hardware standpoint either, rocking a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel ATOM CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD beneath its hood. The 57.6 Wh battery also sounds good, though we can’t say the same thing about the pricing. The XRW goes for around $2,500 bucks, with shipments set to start in February. Ouch, that’s rough indeed!
