After a long string of “heavyweight” rumors concerning Samsung’s upcoming line of tablets, we have two new “quickies” for you today. As all recent Sammy-related stories, these are not to be taken very seriously, although they both look solid.
On one hand, the Galaxy Note 8.0 is almost a certainty starting today, after it’s being spotted getting FCC’s stamp of approval. FCC certifications can’t be counterfeited, but we still can’t be 100% sure about the 8-inch Note’s launch. That’s because we’ve seen gadgets in the past swinging by the agency and then never seeing daylight and also because the Samsung tab spotted is listed only by its GT-N5110 model number.
As for our second quickie, that’s a bit more far-fetched, coming from SamMobile. According to the website’s sources, it seems the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has been dropped in favor of an 8-inch model that’s supposed to more directly take on Apple’s iPad Mini.
That makes sense, but wouldn’t this Tab 3 8.0 also cannibalize the sales of the Note 8.0? We think so, which is why we’re going to take this story with a pinch of salt.
