RIM has rolled out a new version of their Blackberry World; their recently re-branded application store, from Blackberry App World. The online storefront will soon provide users featured movies and US, UK and Canadian TV shows the day after they are released to DVD or are aired on TV, respectively.
“Varying by region and distributor, customers will have access to movies from the following studios and independents: 10th Century Fox, Entertainment One (eOne,) Lionsgate, MGM, National Film Board of Canada, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (US,) Starz Digital Media, STUDIOCANAL, The Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures (UK,) Warner Bros,” stated RIM in a press release put out on Monday.
Likewise, their music feature will expand to eighteen countries worldwide. Perhaps seeing daylight with the Blackberry’s 10 OS launch, there is no date to expect to see these improvements to their app store, as of yet.
The company is holding a press conference in New York on Wednesday and most likely to address all of these concerns.
