In a smartphone world where bigger is better and 5-inchers are becoming the norm rather than the exceptions, when do you know you’ve gone too far? Apparently never, or else Huawei wouldn’t have given birth to the gargantuan 6.1-inch Ascend Mate.
But the Mate is real and it’s even ready to start selling. Via a third-party Chinese online retailer for the moment, but one that actually promises to fulfill orders from all across the globe in a matter of days.
The shop currently takes pre-orders for the Ascend Mate, with pricing set at $575. Too expensive? Probably for some, but we know a few folks who’re very smitten with that humongous IPS+ panel, the quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU, the 2 gigs of RAM and the massive 4,050 mAh battery.
The rest of the features are not half bad either and include Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8 MP/1 MP dual cameras, 32 GB of on-board storage, microSD support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The “pure white” version is the only one available for now, but you should look for a “crystal black” model soon too.
