Apricorn, a leader in data security products for business, has announced a biometric USB drive that safeguards your data with secure fingerprint access. The Aegis Bio uses real-time 256-bit AES-XTS hardware encryption and it doesn’t require software setup or admin rights to access the data.

The Bio works on any operating system including Mac, PC, and Linux. It has USB 3.0 for data transfer speeds up to  5 Gbps. The Aegis Bio is USB-powered, rugged, and compact, which makes it perfect for mobile access while you’re on the go.

Apricorn Aegis Bio USB 3.0 Hard DriveOnce registered, you simply swipe your finger on the sensor to access the files. The Aegis Bio will store up to 5 fingerprint profiles. The encryption protects the drive even if it’s removed from the casing. All of the fingerprint information is stored within the circuitry and is independent of the host system. The fingerprint system uses an advanced live layer imaging technology to provide the most accurate fingerprint image possible.

The Bio uses a patented dual-plate active pixel design, when competitors will use only a single passive pixel design. The sensor uses three different sensing methods to read live layers of the skin, meeting the stringent image quality requirements of NIST and the FBI.

The Aegis Bio is available in 500 GB, 750 GB, and 1 TB capacities for $199, $219, and $249, respectively. Visit for more information and purchasing options.
