Nokia’s fall from grace may have been quick and painful, but that doesn’t mean the Finnish are ready to call it quits just yet. But to get back on top, the company has to cover all its bases and try to fill all gaps, from entry-level to high-end.
The Lumia 520 and 720 might be Nokia’s next attempts at conquering the mid-range smartphone niche. The duo is not yet official, but various sources confirm not only their existence, but also big chunks of their listed features.
The 720 is supposedly codenamed Zeal and will be the bigger of the two, but not necessarily the most technically impressive. The big guy might come with a 4.3-inch display (unknown resolution,) a dual-core 1 GHz CPU, 512 MB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory, and dual 6 MP/2 MP cameras.
Meanwhile, the 520, codenamed Fame, is rumored to sport a smaller 4-inch screen and very similar hardware specifications as the 720, except for the rear-facing 5 MP snapper. There should also be no front-facing cam, while the on-board OS will be Windows Phone 8 for both devices.
Oddly, we’ve just heard about a Nokia Flame as well, but, based on the specs, that could be one and the same as the “Fame”.
