There’ve been a lot of rumors lately about Nokia’s future tablet plans, with several sources “in the know” confirming there is in fact a 10-incher in the making. However, it appears that the Finnish might have even bigger fish to fry in this market, with a 7-inch slate now making the rumor rounds.
The 7-inch tablet universe looks like it’s ready to blow and we have to ask ourselves if there’s enough room for more competition. Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fires are terribly popular these days, as is Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Apple’s iPad mini is slightly larger than the three, but is thought to have a similar target audience, while a Galaxy Note 8.0 is allegedly in the works as well.
But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. After all, Nokia’s 7-incher is far from confirmed. A blurry photo of this thing might have appeared in Pakistan during a Lumia 620 launch event, but it could really be anything. An elaborate hoax, Photoshop, a mistake directly on Nokia’s part, you name it.
If what we’re seeing proves to be a real tab, it looks pretty intriguing, with a Lumia-style design, a thin bezel, colorful casing and rounded sides. And, of course, Windows 8.
