We’re getting closer and closer to Samsung’s unveiling of the Galaxy S4 and the “next big thing” is becoming less and less of a mystery by the day. Adding in to the rumor bonanza of the past few weeks, a couple of fresh stories seem to bring some previously unknown intel on specs and release dates.
Starting off with the hardware, it appears the S4 might come packing a quad-core Exynos 5540 CPU clocked at 1.9 GHz. That’s according to some sources, while others tell us Sammy might opt for a brand spanking new Snapdragon 600 SoC with an identical clocking speed.
It’s not out of the question for both stories to be real either, in which case the Exynos would be inside the “international” version of the super-phone, while the Snapdragon will power the North American models.
Meanwhile, on the software front, the on-board Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean seems set in stone.
What is not yet certain is S4’s release date. The April ETA has been moved to March, most likely to counter the HTC One release. The truth could again lie somewhere in the middle though, with Europe and Asia likely to get the phone next month and US, Canada and South America later on.
