Best Buy is tired of being the testing ground for customers looking to make purchases. With online retailers often offering lower prices, Best Buy has become a place where customers try out products before purchasing them from the likes of Amazon. In an effort to stop so-called “showrooming,” Best Buy will begin price matching 19 online retailers beginning on March 3.
Best Buy will honor the price of selected online retailers as long as it has the exact product in stock at one of its physical locations. In order for online price matching to occur, customers will need to print out the webpage that shows the competitor’s price. For online only items, they can call 1-888- Best Buy and provide the URL to the representative on the other line.
Given Best Buy’s recent financial problems, this is exactly the kind of move the company has to make. By price matching very popular online retailers, customers will be able to get what they want on the same day as opposed to waiting for shipping.
Ironically, Best Buy may still be used as a showroom, but in reverse. People could the store, price match the item they want and purchase it from Best Buy anyway.
The following company’s websites are eligible for Best Buy’s new price match guarantee.
