Lumio is one of those projects that makes one wonder, “why didn’t I think of that?” The concept seems so simple and the design so modern that you can’t help but want one. The Lumio is a multi-purpose modern lamp that unfolds from a book.
The light turns on when you open the cover and turns off when it’s closed. The white “pages” unfold like an accordion and glow bright from the light source. The flexible and durable spine lets you control the brightness by adjusting the angle without a switch or a button. The Lumio is compact, folding into a 1″ book, and portable, by its lightweight and cordless design.
The Lumio has a built-in Lithium Ion battery good for up to 8 hours on a full charge and it’s included AC adapter lets you keep it plugged in for use as a standard lamp. The light itself is provided by long-lasting LED modules, emitting slightly more light than a 40W bulb.
The interior body of the lamp is made from durable, water resistant and 100% recyclable DuPont Tyvek. The outside cover is made from certified wood in 3 finish options – dark walnut, warm cherry, and blonde maple. It also has industrial grade neodymium magnets built into the covers, letting you mount the Lumio in different configurations.
