With the Samsung Galaxy S4 rumor mill at full throttle for several weeks, most of the important details are no longer a mystery. We know the “next big thing” will be unveiled on March 14 and will pack a 4.99-inch Full HD panel, 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean among others.
One thing that’s however still not set in stone is GS4’s processor. Or processors, because Sammy’s previous two flagships – S2 and S3 – have had CPU variations depending on their locations.
One early speculation was that all S4 models will come packing the same Exynos 5 Octa SoC. Then, several contradicting reports came and told us some versions will come with the Exynos CPU, while others will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 600.
But the newest story says Samsung will only have one S4 version… with the Snapdragon inside. The rumor comes from a pretty reliable source, but there’s still something fishy about it. The Exynos processors are developed and manufactured by Sammy, so will the Koreans really accept a total Qualcomm intrusion in their internal affairs? We don’t think so, but it all remains to be seen.
