Anyone remember Sony’s C5303, allegedly dubbed “HuaShan”? I know it wasn’t the most exciting smartphone to leak back in January, but it couldn’t have passed entirely unnoticed.
Well, let me refresh your memory if you still don’t recall it. The HuaShan was, in a nutshell, an Xperia Z lookalike with what we figured was a slightly smaller display and mid-range specs. Now you remember?
Finally. As it turns out, most of our speculations from last month are gaining traction with MWC just a couple of days away. What a coincidence, eh? Of course not and of course Sony is going to intro the new guy in Barcelona early next week.
Now called Xperia SP (which, we think, is going to be the final market name), the mid-ranger is said to be packing a 1.7 GHz dual-core S4 processor and a 4.6-inch 720p display. Not too shabby, and if you add an 8 MP camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8 GB of internal memory, microSD support and 1 GB of RAM in the equation, you get the definition of a powerhouse on a budget. Now let’s see the price, Sony.
