Braven LogoThe best thing about portable speakers is that you can bring them anywhere. The drawback? Most of them aren’t designed to withstand some of nature’s elements and risk taking damage. Fear not, since Braven has a speaker for those into action sports or outdoor adventures. The Braven BRV-1 is rugged, water resistant, and built for outdoor use. The IPX5 water resistance protects it against rainfall and splashes of water. It won’t, of course, survive a complete dunking. The shock-absorbing exterior lets it take the best of extreme bumps and tumbles without damage.

Braven BRV-1The built-in rechargeable battery is good for up to 12 hours of music playtime. You can even charge your digital devices through the Braven BRV-1 USB port, effectively making it a battery pack as well. The speakers output 6W of power, 3 per channel. You can adjust the volume and skip tracks with the onboard controls.

Built-in Bluetooth keeps it cable-free and there is noise-canceling mic to make and take calls wirelessly. If you don’t have Bluetooth, you can still use the Braven BRV-1 with any device with the 3.5mm IN port on the speaker. Since the BRV-1 charges through a micro-USB port (cable included) and not by a power cable, it can be charged on the go with any external USB battery pack. All this comes in a package that fits in your palm.

The Braven BRV-1 is available from for $179.99 with a choice of two colors.
