Despite this week in Barcelona being rather silenced compared to our expectations, there are some companies bringing quite a bit to the MWC tablet his year. LG, is most definitely one of them.
Officially announcing two new and two newly- updated smartphone series, the company has set themselves up to have a big post-Q1 in sales for 2013. Furthermore, on Tuesday the Korean company has rolled out a new technique in portable device battery charging, by means of their WCP-300 or the world’s smallest wireless charger.
At 6.9cm in diameter, it features a charging area that is 1.7 times wider than the company’s previous model wireless charger. It transfers power via electromagnetic induction, producing a magnetic field, generating an electric current and charging the batteries while the device sits on the platform.
The LG WCP-300 is compatible with 5-pin micro-USB power ports and will be supported by all smartphones that support the Qi certification. The LG Spectrum 2 and Nexus 4 feature built-in support for wireless charging and the company plans to add the technology to future devices.
