Sony C670X Smartphone Leaks: Smaller Xperia Z With Beefier Processor

Do you remember the good old times when smartphone manufacturers launched only one high-end model every year? Well, they’re gone. Samsung had the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 in 2012, HTC the One X, X+ and Droid DNA, while Sony is already gearing up for the release of the second 2013 flagship.

Xperia Z’s availability is still patchy, but a C670X phone has leaked and looks a lot like a smaller, more muscular brother of the 5-incher. Expected to sport a 4.8-inch display with a Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution, the C670X will be packing a 1.8 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

That’s one of the newest top-tier chips from Qualcomm, so it should add a bit of “juice” compared with the old S4 Pro inside the Z. Then again, we already have two big guys powered by the 600 SoC – HTC’s One and LG’s Optimus G Pro – so Sony should think about unleashing the beast soon.

Rumor has it the new Sony phone will only come in the summer, which might be a little too late. True, Android 4.2, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of on-board storage and 13 MP camera sound like dreamy specs now, but will they be equally as impressive in four months?
