Facebook today has announced the gradual roll out of the redesigned news feed for all iteration of the Facebook site. That means that no matter how or where you access your Facebook account’s news feed, be it on the web using your desktop computer or on mobile smartphones and tablets, you’ll see the same format and design of the news feed.
According to Facebook, the redesign of the news feed was done to reduce clutter and focus more on stories from the people you care about. As such, you’ll be seeing all the stories you see in your News Feed before, now with a fresh new look.
In addition, Facebook says that each of the story that will appear on the News Feed will now more be vibrant and colorful and will highlight the content that you’re Facebook friends are sharing with you. This also means that photos, news articles, maps and events will look brighter and more beautiful. But we have yet to see that as Facebook is gradually rolling out the new feature.
Together with the redesigned News Feed, Facebook is also introducing new feeds that you may want to add to your Facebook timeline. These include the following:
– All Friends – a feed that shows you everything your friends are sharing
– Photos – a feed with nothing but photos from your friends and the Pages you like
– Music – a feed with posts about the music you listen to
– Following – a feed with the latest news from the Pages you like and the people you follow.
Now, how to get the new News Feed? Unfortunately, Facebook will not tell as to when this will be enabled for all Facebook users. I’m expecting reactions to this once it has been rolled out to everyone. Will there be uproar once the old News Feed is phase out? That remains to be seen. In the meantime, you may want to get in line to get first dibs on the redesigned Facebook News Feed.
