According to Gogo’s in-flight WiFi service, Apple devices are used the most in the air. Check out the cool infographic:
Apple devices have 84% of the bandwidth activity while Android has the remainder. Sorry Windows and Blackberry. You guys barely made the stats.
While tablets had the most share (35%), it was interesting to note that phones were right up there at 32%, just ahead of laptops at 33%.
I did like cNet’s commentary on why Apple was so far ahead of Android:
Maybe it’s because Apple devices are more popular to use while traveling, or maybe it’s because Android users are smart enough to download their in-flight entertainment before getting on an airplane?
Be aware, however, if you want to be part of these statistics in the future that Gogo now charges by the hour instead of offering one-time flight passes.
I personally haven’t seen much point to in-flight WiFi. I guess I’m in the “smart enough to download beforehand” demographic.
Which devices do you use to surf the web while you’re miles in the air?

What you fail to understand is that Android users aren’t smart, they are cheap. Apple users also download what they want before the flight (i.e. movies, TV shows, etc.), but they don’t mind paying to have WiFi access to be able to do many things that this allows. Also if you just look around on a plane, you see it dominated by Apple products (Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and iPod) and Apple users use their devices more than Android users. Look at the web usage stats!!!
