And here I thought the slap bracelet was out of style. UVeBand (pronounced “yoo-vee-band”) has brought it back, this time with beach-going functionality. When you’re out soaking up the sun, this waterproof, solar-powered slap bracelet detects the accumulation of ultraviolet rays to tell you when to reapply sunscreen.
The system works as such: apply at least 15 SPF sunscreen, then snap on the UVeBand to turn it on. After absorbing UV for a time, the band will vibrate to let you know when you should reapply sunscreen. Take it off and the device resets and turns itself off after twenty minutes. Simple!
Get your own UVeBand as a Kickstarter reward for just $8 (+$3.50 shipping) here.
