We’ve been looking for a Nexus 7 killer (or at least challenger) for ages, but who knew such a gadget was right under our noses all along? The only thing is the T7S comes from…. Hyundai. You know, the car manufacturer.

So what do cars have to do with tablets? We would say nothing, but in this particular case Hyundai automobiles and slates seem to have great quality-price ratios in common.

Available for around $186 from various online stores, including Pandawill, the Hyundai T7S has everything going for it, except one little thing – it only comes with on-board Android 4.0 ICS. Darn!

If you’re willing to overlook this though, you’ll most likely have nothing else to complain about. There’s a quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 processor inside the thing, 2 GB of RAM (!!!), a 3,300 mAh battery, a 5 MP camera slapped on its back and even an 0.3 MP snapper on the front.

The 7-inch screen is no pushover, with a 1,280 x 800 pixels resolution, while as far as looks go the T7S is plasticky and probably a little shallow, but extremely light (311 grams) and thin (0.42 inches). Are you in or are you out?
