T-Mobile finally announced the availability of the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 on its network. The iPhone 5 will sell for $99 on April 12. Pre-orders will open on April 5. T-Mobile is offering the iPhone without a contract, but it won’t be as simple as paying $99 and cutting T-Mobile out of your life. The carriers new “Un-carrier” philosophy dictates you don’t have to be tied to contract plans, but they still have you on the hook for the phone.
When you pay $99 for the iPhone 5, you also have to pay $20 a month for 24 months. The plan you can get won’t be on a contract. The cheapest plan for the iPhone 5 costs $69.99 a month and includes 500MB of data, unlimited talk and unlimited text. You can get unlimited data for $70 a month on a single line. T-Mobile’s iPhone 5 will benefit from the carrier’s new 4G LTE network, 500MB of hotspot data and HD voice.
If you want a cheaper alternative, you can go for the iPhone 4S for $69.99 down and $20 a month, and the iPhone 4 will be $14.99 down and $15 a month.
