It’s not every day that we see a single Apple iPad discounted, so you can imagine our surprise upon hearing about two models that can be bought on the cheap via two different American retailers.

On one hand, there’s Best Buy, which offers the third-gen iPad (with a 9.7-inch display) for a lower than usual price, while on the other you have Walmart, kind enough to slash iPad mini’s price.

It’s tough to say which of the two deals is more lucrative, but you probably already know if you need a larger or a more portable slate. The iPad 3 is $545.99 via Best Buy, which sounds like a pretty penny. Then again, the list price is actually close to 800 bucks, as this particular model is not only boasting a Retina display, but also 64 GB of on-board storage and 4G LTE speeds.

As for the Mini on sale with Walmart, that’s a lot cheaper, but also much more modest. It’s the 16 GB model with Wi-Fi connectivity only and the slashed price is $299 – 30 bucks less than usual. Not the deal of a lifetime, but it’s something, right?

Even at ‘slashed’ prices, these products are still over priced. Drop the iPad3 another $150 and do the same with the mini. That’s a slash in price. Also, no one sells at list price…come on.
