BlackBerry’s carefully planned revival relies in big part on the success of the first two BB10-based handhelds, even if we’re pretty sure a few extra ones will be unveiled by the end of the year. So far, the Z10 has been received with warmth in Canada and UK, while the Q10 is not yet available anywhere in the world.
But it will be really soon, most likely starting with Great Britain. Folks around those parts have had the QWERTY-toting phone available for pre-orders with Clove for a little while and now they can do the same through Carphone Warehouse.
Unlike Clove, CW has both the on and off-contract Q10 versions available, with pricing starting at £0. You can get the handheld for no upfront payments with Orange, Vodafone, O2 or EE monthly plans going for between £36 and £41. In all cases, you’ll be asked to pen a 24-month contract with your carrier of choice, but naturally you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to.
And that’s because you can also get the BlackBerry Q10 on “Pay as you go”, or, in plain English, SIM-free. The price point is a little steeper than on Clove – £579.95 vs. £534.99, while the first shipments are expected to go out “by the end of April” from both retailers. What are you going to choose?
