iphoneT-Mobile’s in-house iPhone 5 isn’t coming out until April 12, but the 1 million+ GSM iPhones currently on its network are getting a big update today. This update is available to every eligible iPhone that is using a T-Mobile SIM card. The big features include HD Voice calling and AWS LTE support for unlocked iPhone 5 devices. T-Mobile’s upcoming iPhone and AT&T’s 2013 iPhone will also gain support for AWS HSPA+. What does all that mean? Basically you can look forward to having faster data speeds.

T-Mobile is still in the process of turning on its new LTE network. As of now, it’s available in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Kansas City, San Jose, Washington D.C. and Baltimore. So while you may not see LTE speeds now, you will at some point in the future.

If you don’t have an iPhone 5 of any kind, you’ll still may find this update to be useful in some ones. For one, you’re getting visual voicemail support, better battery life and a handy 4G network indicator. MMS settings, personal hotspot settings and a bookmark for My Account is being thrown in as well.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 5 are now being accepted through T-Mobile. The cheapest iPhone 5 model will cost you $99 down and $20 a month if you have really good credit. If your credit isn’t so great, your down payment will be higher while the monthly payment is lower.
