There are plenty of great choices on the market if you’re on the prowl for a portable tablet with a great quality-price ratio, but it’s still hard to beat Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD. Especially nowadays, since Amazon has slashed a cool $20 off the list price of the 32 GB 7-incher.
We’re talking about the variant with Wi-Fi only, available via Amazon.com for the low, low price of $229 with “special offers” and $244 sans sponsored screensavers and ads. As for the 16 GB model with Wi-Fi, that’s still $199 with and $214 without special offers, so if you’re planning on splashing the cash on one of these you might as well get the one with double the storage.
Of course, you could also go for the 4G LTE-enabled Fire HD or the 8.9-incher. The former is $399 and up with 32 GB of memory and $499 with 64 GB, while the Fire HD 8.9 starts at $269 and goes all the way up to $314.
Though it lacks a microSD card slot, the Fire HD 7 is still darn impressive for its price range, packing a dual-core 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM and running a skinned version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Who’s getting one?
