Big, bigger, the biggest. That seems to be today’s PC market’s simple and straightforward creed. But when will it all stop? And when is big too big? Well, I don’t know about you, but a 27-inch tablet just seems like pure madness to me. And not in a good way.
True, Lenovo is marketing the IdeaCentre Horizon as a table PC and not a tablet, but it’s still a ginormous gadget. For Pete’s sake, the thing weighs roughly 19 pounds, so carrying it around and using it as a tablet is out of the question.
Then again, why not get a Bluetooth mouse and wireless keyboard and turn the IdeaCentre Horizon into an all-in-one PC? Sounds like a good idea, but that’s where the extravagant pricing enters the picture and ruins it all. The Horizon starts at $1,699, being available for pre-orders now, with shipping estimated to start in June.
But if money’s not a problem, the 27-incher will probably sweep you off your feet with its specs. The multi-touch display is anti-glare and sports a Full HD resolution, while the “entry-level” configuration packs the following goodies – third-gen Core i5 CPU, Windows 8 64, a GeForce GT620M graphics card, 8 gigs of RAM, and a 1 TB HDD. Darn, now I want it too!
