What’s better than a solar panel that can charge your iPad? One that can charge two, of course.
Suntactics, a California-based company, has been focusing on portable solar and off-the-grid technology products since 2009. The newest addition to their lineup of portable products is the sCharger-12.
The Suntactics sCharger-12 is a dual-port mini solar panel that folds open similar to a laptop clamshell design. It’s inside surfaces hold a pair of black solar cells that can recharge a wide variety of digital devices — many of which can be used while sCharger-12 is juicing them up.
Dean Sala, inventor of the sCharger-12 and CEO of Suntactics, claims that not only can it fully charge two iPads in one day, but that his solar charger will also charge an iPhone or an iPad battery at wall-charging speeds.
“It may take all day to fully charge two iPads at the same time, but this should give people an idea on how powerful it is,” said Sala in a press release. “No other portable solar charger can charge two [iPads] at the same time, the S12 can.”
It’s a very bold claim; one that, if true, can certainly put the sCharger-12 well ahead of it’s competition in terms of performance. The open dimensions of the S12 is 11.5 inches by 14.5 inches, a healthy amount of solar panel coverage to get the job done.
The company also sells a similar, yet smaller version of the sCharger-12 called the sCharger-5 — which is much smaller, more lightweight and compact than its “big brother.” Even so, the sCharger-12 is compact enough to be slipped into a laptop bag, backpack, or
briefcase fun outdoor bag.
Dean Sala exclaims that “People can solar charge an iPad outside and at the same time surf the web, check email, listen to music, and watch movies. This is a must have item especially when summer is just around the corner.”
I totally agree. And it’s made right here in America.
